While Jackie was at Tarleton State University studying Industrial Arts and Technology, he decided to take a 4-week intro to jewelry design class. During a class presentation, a local jewelry store owner noticed his work and invited him to finish his project at his store in Stephenville, TX. For 4 years, Jackie continued to work at Swendles Jewelers while he finished his degree and continued to learn the business.
Jackie met Delisa and they got married shortly after. “When you know you know,” Jackie Read. Well this rang true just six months later when the couple, just 19 and 23, decided to open their own jewelry store in Decatur, TX. Reads Jewelers opened its doors in March of 1986.
Jackie and Delisa grew the store over 13 years that it was in Decatur.
In 1999, Jackie and Delisa were introduced to the Cutting Horse community. This led to closing their retail showroom in Decatur and exhibiting their jewelry solely at horse shows and equestrian events throughout the United States.
After being on the road for a decade, Jackie and Delisa decided to cut back on their show schedule and set their homebase in Fort Worth. Reads Jewelers opened the West 7th District storefront in October of 2010.
In 2020, Reads relocated to Camp Bowie Boulevard. 3 years later and we look forward to many more years!
